Hello and welcome to my blog!
Today I am back with another Sunshine Blogger award post. There is another one from a few months back on my blog so it would be great if you had a read of that one too. I was tagged in this award by The Good The Human and I am so happy. I’ve recently come back to blogging after a 2 month hiatus and to be tagged in such a lovely tag by a wonderful blogger has made me feel like I can do this blogging thing and I’m not as bad at it as I thought! Make sure to head over to her blog and check it out!
Today I will be answering 11 questions and tagging 7 wonderful bloggers to answer questions of my own. So without further ado, let’s get on with it!
What was your favourite age growing up?
Hmm, I’d have to say that I loved aged 6/7. I’d just moved to a new school and was in the process of making new friends. I also got to really explore my love of reading and learning. I know that sounds a little nerdy but at this point fairytales still existed and the tooth fairy and Santa still visited me, but at the same time I was growing up and experiencing learning and making friendships that would last for years.
How, when and why did you start a blog?
I started my blog in January 2018. I thought it’s something I’d bee putting off for a while and I decided in the new year to take the plunge and start my blog. BecomingElysia is a place for me to learn who I am and recently with my diagnosis of depression, I’m hoping for this blog to become a place I can begin to heal and talk about my experiences to help others.
If you see a puddle on the ground do you walk around it or over it?
What a unique question! My inner child says jump in it (but only in waterproof shoes). If I’m in non waterproof shoes I try and go around it. I only go over it if the puddle is long and I can’t get around it. Not sure what that says about me haha!
If you came back in your next life as an animal, what animal would you be?
I’d love to say a lion or a wolf, something brave and strong with a cleat vision of who they are and they’re place in the world. But if we’re being totally honest, i would be a sloth. A little dopey, sleeps a lot and eats a lot. That’s me. I trip over myself a lot and sloths sometimes mistake their arms for branches and fall out of trees. That’s defiantly me.
What would be the title of your memoir?
That’s a really hard question! I’d probably go with: Becoming Elysia, The Ups and Downs Of A Chubby 20 Something.
If you could do anything, besides what you’re doing now, what would you do?
I’d love to be an author. Books are my favourite thing and I’ve had a passion for reading since I was a child and one day I’d love to publish my own. I have an idea for a book that I keep putting off sorting it out and I’m too scared to put myself out there to find a publisher. One day I’m sure that I’ll take the plunge and write it but for now it’s an idea on my laptop.
If you had unlimited money to start your own business, what would it be?
Hmm I’d love to start a publishing company or maybe a counselling service that is much cheaper and a bit more accessible for young people. With the counselling thing, I’d like to implement better coping strategies for students, and try and get some more coping strategies into high schools as well. If anyone wants to help me start that, hit me up!
Who do you admire most in the world?
Wow that’s a tricky one. I’d have to say my family. Each member of my family have parts of them that I admire. My mum is strong and she was raising me as a single working mum and she never let me down. My dad has worked so hard to have his own business I’d love to be like that. My stepdad is so kind hearted and will do anything for anyone. My Nanna is the nicest person that you will ever meet, she’d give you the shirt of her back if you asked for it. My grandad was a big inspiration on my education and is the reason that I fought so hard to get where I am. My great aunt I is hilarious and never lets life get her down, she’s “growing old disgracefully”. They have all made me who I am and if I can be like them, I’ll be happy.
If you could only have one sense (hearing, touch, sight etc.), which would it be?
Hmmm, I’d probably have to say sight. The world is full of beautiful things and the simplest sight can make your day 10 times better by just seeing someone you care about or a beautiful flower. I know that just seeing a cute dog puts the biggest smile on my face and really cheers me up. I would miss the taste of a rhubarb gin and a lovely Indian takeaway.
What’s a relationship deal breaker for you?
I think it’s if your a nasty person at heart. Everyone has bad days and periods where they’re mean to others as much as we wish we didn’t, but if someone is always nasty, or hurtful to others for no reason, that’s a problem for me. I can handle mood swings and bad days but not nastiness. Nope thank you. Leave. Bye bye.
What do you hope to achieve with your blog?
One day I’d like to become self employed and use my blog as a way to make a living. I’d also like to find a way to make people more acceptable and understanding about mental health and PCOS (there’s a post on my blog about PCOS if you’re interested). It’s important to me that people understand that conditions like that can be talked about and made more ‘normal’.
